    Verdict

Solemn is just about as consistent as they come at this level but a 3lb rise for winning last time means he needs a career best to repeat the dose. Tabaret is extremely hard to win with and will need a first-time visor to ignite him if he's to win over five furlongs for the first time since 2005 while Canadian Danehill finished last at Ascot and may be missing Frankie. With that in mind we prefer to look at Brierty and LE TOREADOR with the latter narrowly preferred. Brierty ran a blinder when second to a subsequent winner at Hamilton and isn't unduly punished up a pound, but Le Toreador is back down to his last winning mark on turf and recent efforts are better than they may appear. Kevin Ryan has his string in fine form too and he may be able to dominate these from the front. Doctor Parkes and The Nifty Fox are others with claims in what looks a wide-open sprint handicap.
