In depth

Verdict

If turning out again after his early departure here yesterday, Saint Reverien looks likely to gain compensation at the main expense of another French import Tanikos. The selection, never out of the frame in five races in France, (two in chases) was made a short price to make a winning debut over fences here yesterday, but didn't get far. If none the worse for that mishap, he should prove too good for another four-year-old, Tanikos, who won a juvenile hurdle, on heavy ground in France. Nicky Henderson is sure to have his charge well schooled for this chasing debut and if Saint Reverien fails to come up to scratch, he will be the one to take advantage. Arctic Lagoon has the advantage of having had a run over fences, but he didn't achieve a great deal and has much more on his plate here, while Silk Trader, a useful handicap hurdler, looks to face a stiff task on this chasing debut in trying to give plenty of weight to two promising types. However, he will like the ground and is a winner over this trip, so he shouldn't be dismissed lightly, but Saint Reverien is held in high regard and can make up for yesterday's failure.
