In depth

Verdict

Harlestone Grey was just touched off in a driving finish last time out when third behind Persian Punch, he has conditions again in his favour he is well in on his best form and he will be hard to beat. Mesmeric rates the main danger he was doing all his best work at the finish over a furlong shorter trip last time out and he will go close despite top weight. First Ballot would also have a chance on his best form but his best form is with cut in the ground and he may find one or two to good again on this lively ground. Kastari is also another to consider he was a good second in the Melrose at York last time and is one of the least exposed in the field so he should be open to more improvement. Ranville could be a lively outsider but the step down in trip may be against him as his best form is over further of late.
