ROBERTSTOWN (NAP) is a fascinating newcomer here for John Ferguson. Very lightly-raced on the Flat, he won his final two starts for Jim Bolger and wouldn't be making his debut in this grade if he hadn't been showing plenty at home. Fouburg is fancied to reverse Ludlow running with Who Dares Wins on 4lb better terms if he settles better, though both are preferred to Musselburgh scorer Sir Chauvelin and the already-exposed Consortium. The latter's stablemate Old Fashion looks to be well out of her depth.
Sir Chauvelin 6-1 (10-12) Held up, headway to track leaders 4 out, ridden to lead soon after 2 out, ran on, won at Musselburgh 2m (4) gd in Nov beating Big McIntosh (11-5) by 7l, 9 ran.
Who Dares Wins (IRE) 5-6fav (10-12) Chased leaders, not fluent 1st, every chance from 3 out, stayed on strongly to lead towards finish, ridden out, won at Ludlow 2m (4) gs in Nov beating Fouburg (10-12) by 3/4l, 7 ran.
Consortium (IRE) 8-1 (10-12) Held up last, 4th before 3 out, outpaced and driven after 3 out, plugged on into modest 3rd before the last, 3rd of 5, 6l behind Darebin (10-12) at Sandown 2m (4) sft in Nov.
Fouburg (FR) 15-8 (10-12) Held up towards rear, took keen hold, smooth headway on inside after 4 out, led just after next, soon strongly challenged, headed closing stages, kept on, 2nd of 7, 3/4l behind Who Dares Wins (10-12) at Ludlow 2m (4) gs in Nov.
Robertstown (IRE) 8-1 (8-4) Led early before settling in 2nd, 3rd halfway, switched to outer and ridden over 2f out, drifted left and kept on well to lead inside final 100 yards, strongly pressed close home and just held on, won at Naas 1m 4f hcp gf in Oct beating Macnicholson (8-10) by shd, 12 ran.
Old Fashion 12-1 (10-10) Held up mid-division, ridden and weakened before 3 out, pulled up before 2 out, at Leicester 2m fll (4) gs in Nov.
