AUDEMAR's recent efforts have been confined to the Polytrack but Ed Vaughan's five-year-old is no slouch on turf either, finishing second at Newmarket off this mark just over 12 months ago. His yard is in terrific form and, despite returning from a break, he could prove hard to beat in this grade. Signor Verdi could be a danger if first-time blinkers have the desired effect but Cono Zur looks to be in then handicapper's grip now and Hail Promenader, who beat Ruth Carr's gelding at Pontefract in April, disappointed at Beverley the following month. Caldercruix is well handicapped nowadays but has been well below his best for a while.
