In a typically competitive renewal of this traditional end to the Flat season, THE BETCHWORTH KID, proven over the course and able to handle the ground, can take advantage of the weight he receives from the majority of his rivals. Presvis represents Luca Cumani, and he saddles top weight and is a stone higher in the ratings. He showed plenty of speed at Newbury, but his trainer has always believed he was a stayer, and he comes here rather than take his chance in last month's Cambridgeshire. He is not proven on the ground, and with the Newbury form having had some knocks he is taken on. Night Crescendo comes here in fine form, having won his last two starts, both at Ascot, the latest a valuable handicap and he is only two pounds higher, having been freshened up for this contest. He stays the trip well, though he has yet to show winning form on ground this testing, though his recent win came on good to soft. The Betchworth Kid is seven pounds higher than when taking the prestigious Mallard Handicap here two outings ago, but despite failing to follow up on a quicker surface, he will enjoy the conditions. He has only raced on a similar surface three times in his career, but on each occasion he has run to the peak of his form. He would prefer a quarter of a mile further, but given that the big field would appear to guarantee a fair pace, stamina looks likely to come into play, and The Betchworth Kid can make it three wins out of four.
