Shadrack may not be up to his new rating, so Henry Daly's well-named UP TO THE MARK is preferred to Overturn. The selection has had three novice runs and has shaped with promise on each occasion without being knocked about. His fifth to Menorah on debut stands out as good form and off this mark of 104 this well-bred contender could be hard to stop. Shadrack narrowly failed in a hat-trick bid at Wetherby last time out when second to Vecchio Senso; he is considered a danger although his mark is now 28lbs higher than when he started winning. Roganstown was quite well-fancied when last seen in June but disappointed, River Ardeche seemed to improve for the tongue-tie at Wolverhampton last month and that run should have brought him on, whilst blinkers are tried on the wayward Rokinhorsescience. Of more interest is Overturn who doesn't have much to find with Shadrack and this better ground will be in his favour. He was a winner off a mark of 88 at Salisbury in October and has the scope to be miles better than this mark of 100. The consistent Quick Live, the unexposed Flash Harriet, and the dropped-in-trip Knar Mardy are all considered, however the vote goes to Up To The Mark.
