In depth

Verdict

Idlewild might just pop in again, with Totally Scottish, Who Cares Wins, Hopbine and Nowell House among a number of other possibles in a weak affair. Nothing stands out too much here, but at least Idlewild has a recent win to his credit. That first success of the 10-year-old's career came in selling company the week before last, and granted his task was made easier when Fathom was pulled up approaching the last. He was bought in for 3,600gns and connections will be praying that he can show the small amount of improvement needed to follow up. In this company he has every chance, although bets should definitely be kept on the small side. Totally Scottish is one of three Keith Reveley runners and probably has the best chance of the trio. He has been in the grip of the handicapper since scoring at Carlisle over two years ago and will certainly appreciate the drop to this level. Tony McCoy could not work the oracle on Who Cares Wins at Fontwell in November and he will find this trip too short anyway on what is his first outing since then. Hopbine would also prefer further, but has won in better company than this, and Nowell House was rated on 124 when down the field at Wetherby a month ago. It would be no surprise if he were to take a hand in the finish, but a chance is taken with Idlewild.
