In depth

Verdict

A wide-open sprint with several of these old rivals. Eccleston likes it here and, despite top weight, is starting to look well treated. But he is on a bit of a losing run and has been a beaten favourite the last twice. Bahamian Dollar has no form on ground this soft but Chester winner Dragon King is at home on the surface and Pomme De Terre has been steadily coming to hand. DARK DEFENDER produced a couple of solid performances off this mark at Ayr last month and Rowan Scott’s claim could give him a slight edge in this. Tricky Dicky’s latest second at York puts him in the picture given he won on soft at Redcar in the autumn.
