Stellar Wind flopped when only fourth in last year’s renewal but couldn’t arrive in better form having won all three starts this year in Grade 1 company, including at this track in July. Forever Unbridled finished third last year and beat the brilliant Songbird at Saratoga on her latest start while Abel Tasman has won twice at the highest level since landing the Kentucky Oaks back in May. Paradise Woods ran below par in the Kentucky Oaks but the front-runner has subsequently won a Grade 1 contest at Santa Anita in great style while ELATE was beaten only a head by Abel Tasman at Saratoga during the summer. Bill Mott’s filly is rapidly improving as evidenced by a more recent eight-length romp in the Grade 1 Beldame Stakes at Belmont and, having worked well since her arrival at Del Mar, the three-year-old may be capable of even better in what promises to be a terrific contest.
