Verdict
A tough 13 runner maiden to kick off proceedings on 1000 Guineas day and a chance is taken with Kevin Prendergast's GLENDARAGH to go in ahead of Great Huzzar and Emperor Hadrian. Prendergast won this maiden last year with a decent type and this Grade One Phoenix Stakes entry can hopefully go well. He is a son of Ad Valorem and is related to the useful Red Kimi so a decent run is expected. Tommy Stack's yard have been in great form all year and their juvenile runners have also been showing up well. Great Huzzar has no notable entries which is a slight concern but he is a son of Danehill Dancer and part of a good yard so could go close. Aiden O'Brien's Emperor Hadrian looks to be third or fourth string from the Ballydoyle yard on jockey bookings but he may be able to make his experience count. Heir To Mint is another to note from a strong yard and a serious market check is advised on this son of Vindication. High Ruler and Moonlit Garden are others to note but will do well to win on debut so Glendaragh gets the short head verdict over Heir To Mint.
