Verdict

Jim Bolger has two entries with Kevin Manning choosing Speirling Beag over Clever And Cool. The former is well suited by the conditions as she showed when narrowly beating Lumiere Rock at Gowran but had earlier finished just under two lengths behind BE HAPPY on testing ground at Cork. The winner is bred for stamina and normal progress can see her go in again though Gozen's short-head victory over Basil Martini at Punchestown was boosted when the winner won a Group 3 here with Clever And Cool only fourth. Perfect Portrait caught the eye on debut at Galway when subsequent winner Starry Heavens was just behind and neither can be dismissed.
