Verdict

MR SMITH completed a hat-trick on the Flat and over hurdles in the summer and looked to have been found a good opportunity back on the level at Newbury but flopped and was well beaten. That wasn't his form and he can return to winning ways. Top Moon easily won a Kilbeggan maiden before two fine efforts in very tough handicaps and though climbing the weights looks certain to get into contention. Morosini was only just behind him at Listowel in September so has to be considered while Fauguernon, a triple winner on the Flat in France, should be ready for his handicap debut after three maiden runs.
