In depth

Verdict

Luis Van Zandt was slightly impeded when third behind Scotch Quay at Fairyhouse in April but was due to return from a break at Galway yesterday. Eoin Griffin’s charge has been beaten three times since that success while Harrys Gift is 0-13, though has finished second three times. Unexposed compared to most of these, CLOAK OF DARKNESS showed the benefit of a run at Wexford with a third at Limerick. A mistake at the second-last that day didn’t help his cause and he should improve further over this slightly longer trip. Smithscorner is having a confidence-booster having lost his way over fences but Callthebarman would have a chance if translating his chase form back to hurdles and Cerealice may be happier back over the smaller obstacles.
