Carrigmoorna Pine had been well beaten in his two previous starts over timber before easily landing a Clonmel maiden when well supported. Charles Byrnes won this in 2017 and Advanced Virgo beat a big field at Navan in September before finding 2m4f beyond him in a better race at Galway. FAUGUERNON, three times a winner on the Flat, had only shown moderate ability over timber before a much improved run in a Leopardstown handicap where he beat a huge field.
