With several arriving on the back of decent performances, this looks trickier than the opening division but KALMEZ may be good enough. Paul Rothwell's charge was given an enterprising ride when just failing to hold Ever Dreaming after setting up a long lead at Tramore and similar tactics could pay dividends on this faster ground. Both Allys Bubble and Western Bound are blinkered for the first time and could prove troublesome. The former has a long absence to overcome after a fine effort behind Uncommited at Downpatrick in October but Gordon Elliott's ten-year-old is fit from an excellent third in a big field at Clonmel last month and looks a threat. Close Comet had been performing between the flags before a very good run at Thurles last month and a repeat would see him go close.
