It's difficult to fault the consistency of Jacks Island recently. The eight-year-old has been placed in his last three starts, though two of those runs were in single-figure fields. Quarryvale is only 6lb higher than when successful in a novices' handicap over C&D in February but she hasn't raced since April, while Noble Commander hasn't raced since pulling up at Kilbeggan in June and was behind BOROLEE at Limerick earlier. Elizabeth Doyle's gelding was pulled up at Galway in October but that was a much better contest than this and the eight-year-old did win this race two years ago, albeit off a much lower mark. He gets a tentative vote again as Limerick third Island Peak always seems to find at least one too good.
