GUN MERCHANT made steady progress between the flags and looks a potentially nice hurdler after a battling victory in a Punchestown bumper. This doesn't look the toughest of hurdling debuts and he can make a winning start. Raya Time looked a certain future winner when runner-up here and at Navan in the spring but then pulled too hard in a tough Punchestown handicap in April and hasn't run since. Marine One fell on his hurdling bow in May but has produced two very good efforts at Kilbeggan recently and has to enter calculations. Josie Abbing won a Newton Abbot bumper in July but looks as though she may need further over hurdles while Nameloc, who finished runner-up over this track and trip early last month, jumped poorly at Galway later.
