This looks a strong renewal but the likely favourite American Pharoah is the one causing plenty of excitement. He's been dotting up in Grade 1 races and won the Arkansas Derby by eight lengths last time despite Victor Espinoza taking a tight hold. But Bob Baffert's colt will find this a much tougher test especially from a wide draw and his unbeaten stablemate DORTMUND has just as good a chance. Also a Grade 1 winner, he's a proven street fighter and looks sure to be battling out the finish. Firing Line has pushed the latter close on a couple of occasions while Upstart has speed figures to match those at the head of the betting. Carpe Diem and Materiality look to have the best chance of Todd Pletcher's trio while Frosted represents Godolphin and has won at the highest level. Mubtaahij landed the UAE Derby on the dirt at Meydan in March but winners from Dubai don't have a great record in this.
