        Verdict

        There's plenty of quality about these platers and none-more-so than with the Marwan Koukash-owned pair of King Torus and Marcret. Both would have been more than capable of winning this race at the peak of their powers and the latter landed the Huxley Stakes at the track last year. With absences and losses of form to overcome, it may be prudent to overlook them and our preference is for CLOCKMAKER. The seven-year-old had no answer to Dr Red Eye on his last visit to Chester but the form of his victory at Musselburgh was given a boost as the runner-up went on to be fifth in the Buckingham Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. Toto Skyllachy should find this easier than the Royal Hunt Cup that he recently contested while Polar Kite and Elusive Hawk are regular winners against weaker opposition.
