Georgian King, Asparagus Wingnut and The Great Alfie make the shortlist here, with Asparagus Wingnut taken to score. A son of Alflora out of a Teenoso mare, The Great Alfie was not unfancied for his bumper debut. He led until the closing stages and showed signs of greenness, finishing third. He will know his job better today. Georgian King won on his debut at Market Rasen in March, and ran well to be a staying on third at Uttoxeter recently under a penalty. Sharpened up by that run, he can go well. An expensive purchase as a yearling, Asparagus Wingnut never made it to the track for a Flat campaign, but now with Vic Dartnall, he has shown promise in two bumper starts, showing a good deal of improvement last time. Although Paul Nicholls and Phillip Hobbs are represented by interesting debutants, they may go off at false prices, and Asparagus Wingnut can come home in front at a nice price.
