Verdict
No excuses were forthcoming for Aurillac's poor run when fancied here at the start of the month and he's probably best watched for now. Red Hanrahan looked to have taken the measure of the odds-on Royal Vacation when falling on his hurdling debut at Wetherby. He was up against some smart staying novices next time at Ascot, though his effort was still a little disappointing. GHOST RIVER, a useful performer in bumpers, was beaten when falling two out on his hurdles bow at Exeter but would have finished a clear second behind a useful winner had he stood up and that experience will not have been lost on him. Barenice is improving with experience but this is an above-average maiden hurdle.
