The presence of Martin Pipe's Montreal at the top of the handicap means that stablemate Legatus can race off a featherweight 10st 2lb and he gets the vote ahead of Broadbrook Lass. The last mentioned has won two of her last three starts but a 10lb rise for the latest of those at Uttoxeter leaves Heather Dalton's mare with more to do. The Philip Hobbs-trained Koquelicot made a winning reappearance when taking advantage of a lenient mark over hurdles in October but struggled when returned to chasing at Leicester last month. With Henry Daly back among the winners again Coursing Run has to be respected along with Robert Alner's El Hombre Del Rio but Legatus looks the one they all have to beat. Martin Pipe's gelding is unexposed, showed improved form in a handicap chase last time and remains handily weighted.
