        Verdict

        PREVENT was beaten less than a length when third over today’s trip at York and a repeat should see him go close again in this company. Ascot Day won a lower grade contest over track and trip last month but struggled at Goodwood last time and Maiden Voyage is preferred on only her second start for Archie Watson having won twice when trained in France. Heavy going was against Paths Of Glory on his handicap debut but the maiden winner could go well here with Oisin Murphy on board while Astromachia makes a belated seasonal debut having won twice over 2m last term and undergoing wind surgery during the interim.
