Verdict

Some promising mares are facing the starter in this and June’s Newton Abbot winner Empreinte Reconce probably faces a stiff task giving weight away, though should again beat Kilcara. Midnightreferendum finished ahead of Meep Meep and POSH TRISH when runner-up in a Grade 2 bumper at Aintree in April but Tom Lacey’s five-year-old had won here earlier and the latter’s effort came at the end of a long season in which she had won and been placed in Listed races. A winner between the flags, Paul Nicholls’ charge can come out on top on her hurdles bow. Definitelyanoscar has also won a point-to-point so the switch to hurdles and step up in distance will suit and she is held in high regard. Jockey bookings suggest Festival Dawn is preferred to Hurlstone Point of the two Philip Hobbs’ runners.
