Verdict

COLLECTORS ITEM was only beaten half-a-length in a bumper at Newbury in March when making his debut under Rules and can thwart Paul Nicholls’ attempt to win this for a third year running with the bumper winner Hugos New Horse. Marty Byrde has run in a couple of bumpers here and may do better now switching to hurdles while Jet Marshall is probably better than he showed at Newbury in April. Gladiatus placed between the flags last year and Prince Ali has won twice on the all-weather.
