In depth

Verdict

The four-year-old John Betjeman was third at Newbury after a debut second at Fontwell and will be fancied to make it third-time lucky. Bumper winner Jac Brown was a hot favourite at Ffos Las on his hurdling debut but only finished third, though was just over a length ahead of Jesse's Lady. Le Cameleon has placed at Ffos Las and Exeter and has place claims again but DAGUENEAU (NAP) possibly has the most scope of these after a very promising first run over timber at Newbury, where he only weakened at the last despite having lost a shoe in-running.
