Ben Pauling's string is running into a bit of form and though Newton Thistle has only ever won at Towcester he must have some sort of chance in a race like this. Old-timer Somerby is a course and distance winner and his handler Richenda Ford won with a chaser at Plumpton on Monday. Moorlands George is consistent enough but both wins this year have come at a lower level. JOHNS LUCK did a lot better at Newton Abbot last month and had obviously learned from his first run over fences. He is preferred to stablemate Matrow's Lady and gets the nod if continuing on an upward curve.
