In depth

Verdict

A wide open contest here and many would have chances on their best form but the principals look to be Flying Trix, Un Jour A Vassy, Bright Approach, Midnight Gunner and Uncle Mick and the tentative vote goes to Flying Trix. The selection won his last two races in good style at the end of last season and although he is rising in the weights he could still be ahead of the handicapper and with the yard in good form and under his optimum conditions he is taken to score on his first run of the season. Un Jour A Vassy rates the main danger as he has dropped to a handy mark he was going well when unshipping in a race won by Ballyvaddy, he has failed to complete the course on his last two runs but if he gets around he will not be far away. Bright Approach goes particularly well at this course and is worth noting in the market but he usually needs a couple of runs before he hits form so he is opposed. Midnight Gunner is better off with the selection than when they last met but the selection won with plenty in hand so he will need to improve to gain his revenge. Uncle Mick is game and consistent and is sure to run his race but he looks weighted up to his best. Of the remainder Rolfes Delight won well last time when defeating Team Captain but he will do well to win this as he is 10 pound wrong in the weights and for the winner we return to the improving Flying Trix.
