Wembury Point has won both starts over hurdles so far but has a double penalty to carry as a result and that may anchor Brendan Powell's gelding so it may pay to looks elsewhere with Shingle Street marginally preferred to Strathtay, Kerry's Blade and Trigger Guard. The last mentioned never raced on the level and looks to be getting the hang of things over hurdles but did not beat a great deal at Fontwell last time. Stratford winner Moonfleet was found wanting at Plumpton last time and of more interest may be the David Evans-trained Madam Caversfield who made a promising debut at Ludlow last week. Martin Pipe's Strathtay looks to be going the right way and has to be considered receiving all the allowances, while Kelso Kerry's Blade comes from the yard of Pat Haslam that does so well with their runners in this company and has the assistance of Tony McCoy. Shingle Street was a capable middle distance horse on the flat though, is likely to be better suited by the further emphasis on stamina brought about by the recent rain and is taken to bounce back from a disappointing effort last time.
