A huge field for this final race of the day and one which can be taken by the progressive Snowmore. The Sue Smith-trained six-year-old enjoys a sound surface and has chalked up successive wins in small handicaps at Southwell in recent months. Up 6lbs for the second of those, she looks to have plenty more where that came from, and with the yard continuing in good form she can score again. Martin Pipe has three runners here, Jurancon II, Clodoald and the returning Mutanassib. Clodoald has done well in the summer, winning a couple of sellers before taking a small handicap at Huntingdon and he might still have more races in him, though is plenty high enough now. Any rain would help the cause of Jurancon II, but even if it falls he does look to be exposed at the moment, while Mutanassib has not been seen out since a Doncaster win in January 2000. Though he is 5lbs below that mark here, it would have to be a special training performance even by the standards of Martin Pipe if he is to score on his reappearance after such a huge lay-off. Lago Di Levico romped home at Stratford recently and on similar going here must come into calculations if he can reproduce that effort having been raised only 1lb. Corroboree showed plenty of guts to win at Kempton last time and looks a very nice sort, but would definitely prefer some cut in the ground. Jallastep makes the trip down from Scotland for this one. The five-year-old looks tough and genuine, judged on his recent staying-on success at Kelso. He will relish this trip and the course will also suit, though he wouldn't want it to get too soft. Definite place claims for him. Irish trainer Tony Martin has a very good record when sending runners to these shores and on that basis Rare Ouzel merits respect, though we have only got a Ballinrobe bumper success from May to go on among some ordinary home form here. Hip Pocket, another Irish challenger, is a thorough stayer on the flat back home and if anything this could be just a bit on the short side for him. Any rain would undoubtedly help Jonjo O'Neill-trained Follow Me, who has shown decent form with cut and should come on for his recent pipe-opener at Kempton. With the yard in form it would be no surprise to see him involved if the heavens open.
