TIME FOR SPRING has only had one run over fences but that could hardly have worked out any better with Carlisle second and third, Ballycolin and Rolecarr, both winning next time. A progressive sort over hurdles last season, Charlie Longsdon's seven-year-old may have been let in lightly on his handicap debut over the larger obstacles and can land this amateur event under Gold Cup-winning rider Sam Waley-Cohen. Bescot Springs has won at Hexham and Kelso this year but needs to step up again to figure here and a bigger danger may be Barel Of Laughs, who won at Tipperary and Thurles last month and is still heading in the right direction. Buena Vista is better over hurdles, while this may be a bit far for Swing Bill and Pigeon Island, and Estates Recovery may be too high in the weights now. Stewarts House won at Newton Abbot in August, however, and neither Bai Zhu nor Sound Stage can be ignored.
