        Verdict

        VERMEULEN went close over track and trip before finishing runner-up once again at Windsor. First-time headgear may bring further progress and John Gosden’s charge has the edge on these terms over Sacred Trust and Iberica Road. The latter pair have something to prove over this longer distance and so does Charismatic Man, an import from France having his first start of the year for new connections. Laqab is a half-brother to three winners and preferred to Princess Nia of the newcomers.
