CROSS STEP has a dirt pedigree so should be at home on this surface. He's by the same sire as Hawksbill and Godolphin's only runner at tonight's meeting so may be capable of taking advantage of the 5lb he receives from Time To Study. Mark Johnston's colt looked ready for a step up in trip when second over a mile at Lingfield on Saturday, however, and is preferred to Spring Jig, who was well beaten at Newmarket after winning over the trip at Bath. Peaceful Passage may need more time.
