In depth

Verdict

Khatm has been superbly placed to win five of his last six, his only defeat coming when stepping up to 1m2f. His 5lb penalty for Tuesday's narrow victory at Wolverhampton may just prove a step too far. SHELIR has never run on an artificial surface and has been absent since October but he spent most of last summer running well in Class 2 handicaps and won at this level at Thirsk so looks the one to beat. Papa Stour is back on exactly the same mark as when landing a Kempton handicap in November but was well behind Intrepidly when the latter ran a fine race at Kempton in February, his first start since September. Gloves Lynch is on a long losing run and was twice beaten from this mark in lower grade last month but the lightly-raced Rhubarb Bikini has a course and distance victory to his credit.
