        Verdict

        The Gosdens’ yard won this last year but Running Lion was withdrawn from the Oaks at Epsom having become upset in the stalls. NOVAKAI finished runner-up to the subsequent Oaks winner Soul Sister in the Musidora at York on her reappearance having also finished second in the Fillies’ Mile last season. Karl Burke knows what it takes to win this so his filly gets the vote in a open renewal. Caroline Street is a Group 3 winner but the Ballydoyle filly Never Ending Story finished well behind Blue Rose Cen on bottomless ground in the French 1,000 Guineas when Lindy was runner-up. The unbeaten Jannah Rose had the measure of Elusive Princess in the Group 1 Prix Saint-Alary at Longchamp last month while Pensee Du Jour has been brought quietly along by Andre Fabre and landed a Group 3 last time. Tasmania and the German filly Lady Ewelina are other progressive sorts upped in class.
