    Verdict

    Taking a big step down in class BAY OF FIRES should take all the beating in this Novice Stakes with the progressive Spartic likely to be the main danger and Roodee Queen is the best of the remaining pair. After showing good progressive form in maiden, including victory over Tinkertown and a few other subsequent winners at Redcar, the pick ran as well as be expected in the Group Three Albany Stakes last time. He wasn't disgraced in that and if up to the same again will be taking this race. Spartic has improved in all three starts capping that sequence with a comfortable enough victory over Dark Dune at Beverley. The form from all of his runs has worked out well but he will need to improve to win here. Roodee Queen got off the mark at the eighth time of asking before a solid run in a handicap last time. Based on that she'll need to vastly improve and may also be exposed in this company. Bradbury was solid on debut but looks up against it in this field so Bay Of Fires is a confident pick.
