Verdict

FIRE AWAY had some decent form in Ireland a couple of years ago but lost his way until moving to Laura Morgan for who he made a spectacular debut when landing a gamble at Musselburgh. He carried a 7lb penalty to a narrow victory over 2m5f at Fakenham and is up 13lb for this much shorter race but he looks one to follow through the ratings. Dandolo Du Gite landed a novices' handicap at Southwell in May 2019 and didn't reappear until October. He ran very well in a higher-grade handicap at Wincanton last time and looks a threat. Smiths Cross has had his jumping problems but a run over timber at Wetherby looks to have done the trick as he ran much better at Newcastle last month. Dual hurdles winner Billy's Angel won a jumpers' bumper at Kempton last month but has run poorly in four starts over fences while Darling Alko has been a big disappointment since an impressive victory on his chasing debut at Ludlow in 2019.
