In depth

Verdict

David Barker looks to have found a decent opportunity for Fox Covert to finally open his account and he is taken to do so at the main expense of Fictional and Jasmine Pearl. The last mentioned has shown signs of ability in better company than this and is difficult to evaluate in terms of form in comparison to her rivals but Brian Meehan's filly probably needs to improve. Bryan McMahon's Fictional has twice been placed in three starts and should be thereabouts again but Fox Covert holds more solid claims. The selection did not seem to stay seven furlongs when finding no extra close home at Goodwood last time and should appreciate the drop back to today's distance. Well drawn in stall one to take advantage of his early speed, the son of Foxhound is worth a bet to open his account after three successive placed efforts. James Bethell's True Magic finished third at Ripon on her debut in a race that is working out well and rates the main danger, while Tim Easterby's Plausabelle is undoubtedly better than she has shown so far but the selection has to be Fox Covert.
