ROCHESTER HOUSE landed the odds by a wide margin over 2m at Beverley last time. He’ll start a short-price once again in this company with a 5lb rise unlikely to anchor Mark Johnston’s charge. The Resdev Way remains 9lb higher than when scoring over 1m6f at Yarmouth back in May and has yet to win over this far. But he ran well enough at York last time and still makes more appeal than Yabass and Piedita, who both arrive out of form though the latter is having only her second start of the year with her yard in flying form.
Yabass (IRE) 8-1 (9-7) Led, headed over 5f out, ridden over 3f out, soon weakened, 5th of 7, dist behind Always Resolute (8-6) at York 2m hcp (3) sft in Jul.
Piedita (IRE) 16-1 (9-5) Went right start, keen, tracked leaders, effort when not clear run over 2f out, weakened over 1f out, 7th of 8, 21l behind Themaxwecan (8-13) at Ascot 2m hcp (3) gf in Jul.
Rochester House (IRE) (9-2) Made all, pushed out, unchallenged, won at Beverley 2m hcp (4) gf in Jul beating Snookered (9-7) by 8l, 3 ran.
The Resdev Way 20-1 (8-2) Slowly into stride, held up last, headway 3f out, chased leaders and every chance just inside final furlong, soon no extra in 3rd, 3rd of 5, 3 1/4l behind Mancini (9-7) at York 2m hcp (3) gf in Jul.
