Welcome To Unos has been consistent of late but has yet to win a race. Plenty Courage is seven pounds lower than for his last win (in November 2001) but has been in modest form of late. Lord Dal hasn't won since his Irish days (1999) although he made late headway on his last run, suggesting he might run well this time. High Cheviot is entitled to be competitive off this mark. Bengal Boy is back to a winning mark and must come into calculations. Golden Thunderbolt is also well weighted on the best of his form. Copplestone is eight pounds higher than for his last win, while Le Sauvage is extremely well weighted on the best of his form which, admittedly, came two years ago. Only Words is five-pounds higher than for his sole win and is weighted to the top end of what he has achieved. Cristophe has yet to win a race despite some placed efforts. Mamboesque, who is still only five, has won only a seller, while Gilbert White has shown little. College City won a Newcastle seller last time but now races from a two-pound lower mark. Crosby Don is another who has bits of form from a higher mark than today but a number of others would be preferred ahead of him. It is not an easy race to assess but Bengal Boy is given as a sporting selection.
