      Verdict

      Invictus is an interesting German recruit for the Hammond team, but this looks to rest between the two penalised contenders. Our Thomas arguably boasts the stronger form on paper courtesy of finishing around four lengths behind Leoncavallo and Sceau Royal in Listed grade at Wetherby but the form of that contest may be somewhat unreliable due to a complete lack of early pace. John Ferguson, handler of Leoncavallo, therefore has a line through to JALEO (NAP) who was swept aside by Clan Des Obeaux at Newbury but easily accounted for the rest of his rivals. Clan Des Obeaux went on to finish an excellent second in the Triumph Hurdle Trial at Cheltenham last weekend to provide the form with a really healthy sheen.
