Verdict

Volcanic has been tried over a variety of distance but continues to look a weak finisher. Last month's course and distance second Clues And Arrows was tailed off and receiving weight when SILK HALL finished second over hurdles at Hexham in June. Though the 10-year-old hasn't exactly sparkled over fences so far, he isn't going to get a better chance than this to come good. The others will need something to happen to the market leaders to get involved.
