NonRunner
A typically-competitive renewal of this long-established handicap. Several trainers have more than one runner but Tim Easterby appears to hold a particularly strong hand. Vive La Difference’s easy Hamilton win could be boosted by Strong Steps in the previous race and Balestra was just denied a hat-trick at Ayr on Saturday. However, the former hasn’t fared well in the draw and Imperial State, one of three Mick Easterby representatives, will also start from wide on the course. MON BEAU VISAGE was slightly hampered at Redcar on Friday. He won off a higher mark last summer and Danny Tudhope prefers him to York runner-up Waarif so he is a sporting selection in a wide-open contest. Others to consider include the Roger Fell pair Mulligatawny and Presidential and Haydock second Calvados Spirit. Alemaratalyoum and El Principe are recent winners and Qaffaal has claims if tranferring Polytrack form back to Turf.
