Chambard won a maiden hurdle at Exeter in January but came up just short under a penalty at Ludlow on his latest outing and steps up in distance. It remains to be seen if DOMINATEUR copes any better penalised for winning in novice company over today’s distance at Lingfield last month but he beat a previous winner on that occasion so Oliver Sherwood’s charge gets the vote. Iwasthefutureonce has plenty to find on these terms and Westerly Wind has shown little so far.
Chambard (FR) 5-2 (11-9) Led until 3rd, led after 4 out, edged left after 2 out, headed flat, held towards finish, 2nd of 15, 3/4l behind Smarty Wild (11-3) at Ludlow 2m (4) gs in Feb.
Dominateur (FR) 10-11fav (11-3) Always prominent, driven to lead approaching last, stayed on well, won at Lingfield 2m 3f (4) sft in Feb beating New Age Dawning (11-3) by 5l, 9 ran.
Iwasthefutureonce (IRE) 20-1 (10-13) Close up, lost ground on leading trio 9th, ridden along 5 out, soon weakened, pulled up 2 out, dismounted, at Newcastle 2m 7f (4) gs in Jan.
