Mr Fayez has been given a chance by the handicapper and he delivered a more accomplished performance at Lingfield than he did when tried here a fortnight ago. Bowling Russian is 0-10 on Turf albeit he’s rated much higher on artificial surfaces. SHAMSHON is almost of pensionable age but he won here last term off an official rating of 71 so his chance is very evident off a 13lb lower mark that doesn’t include the additional 7lb his apprentice can claim. Apache Jewel often appears at esoteric tracks and the others would do well not to let Robyn Brisland’s gelding have a soft time upfront.

Bowling Russian (IRE) 9-1 (9-8) Raced keenly in mid-division, headway out wide chasing leaders halfway, weakening when hampered over 1f out, 8th of 9, 4 1/4l behind Pure Dreamer (9-6) at Lingfield 6f hcp (5) pol in May.

Shamshon (IRE) 25-1 (9-0) Led, headed halfway, tracked leader until approaching final furlong, rallied close home, 3rd of 6, nk behind Brazen Bolt (10-0) at Newmarket 6f hcp (5) gd in May.
