A competitive low grade handicap to end with and course winners Dodona and Marnie are sure to have plenty of local support, but preference is for the improving three-year-old Kristiansand to follow up his recent win at Folkestone. That was a step in the right direction and with further improvement expected, he can beat some exposed rivals. Dodona is a model of consistency, but you have to do back nearly two years since she got her head in front. However, she does have an experienced apprentice on board and looks sure to run her race. Marnie is a capable mare, but she has an inexperienced rider on board and has a poor draw to overcome. Northern raider Bailieborough comes into this in good form and has the experienced Tom Eaves on board. He is worthy of respect, but he is relatively exposed, so Kristiansand is taken to continue his upward curve and see off his older rivals.
