        Verdict

        Sporting Gesture is back to a winning mark and he can take the measure of Red River Rebel and Dontcallmeginger. The veteran will look a fair bet if the rain stays away and having dropped back to a handy mark, he is more than capable of bullying small fields into submission. Red River Rebel is a course-and-distance winner and his best has come when dictating the pace. He was unable to do so in a ladies' race at the track and he might be unable to grab a soft lead here. Don'tcallmeginger has to be respected off a light racing weight. He is still a maiden after nine starts although the step back up in trip is likely to suit. Augustine is difficult to win with whilst ex-French performer, Gloucester is potentially unexposed at present. Lucky Find is out of the handicap but cannot be totally written off given the form of Mick Mullineaux's stable at the moment. A trappy affair and Sporting Gesture is taken to come out on top.
