Verdict

GENIUS BOY cost Goldolphin 120,000gns but never raced for them. He started odds-on for a Wolverhampton maiden on his debut for James Tate but had to fight hard though there was the promise of much more to come. He's up against no less than five course and distance winners but can make enough progress to see them off. Maybeme scored twice here last summer and also on her reappearance at Ripon so the lack of a recent run shouldn't be a problem and she looks a threat. Bling King hasn't won here but arrives in good form having chased home Manchestar in a big field at Redcar on Monday while Saint Thomas has done most of his winning on the Flat on this track and was in excellent form over timber in the autumn. King Of The Celts won a handicap here last summer from a 1lb higher mark and showed up well for a long way on his reappearance at Doncaster.
