The three-year-old California Gem won over the track and trip last July and has been racing in much better company. She takes on older horses for the first time but her class should see her in the mix. Hiya Maite is up to winning this but his winning form is on Tapeta and soft ground so could find the going too quick. Manila Scouse hasn't been out of the places since his debut though he's another who could do with more rain unlike SPRING IS SPRUNG (NAP), who looks the one to beat. He was having just his second start for Paul Midgley when a very close fourth in a much better race than this at York last month and has surprisingly been dropped in the ratings.
